About
The story behind the music
Some stories begin on the page and continue in music.
Shayana by Ava brings together writing, atmosphere,
memory and sound through cinematic songs
and deeply human questions.
FOR MORE THAN THIRTY YEARS
For more than thirty years, I have been telling stories.
Not because I planned to become a writer.
Not because I had a clear path, a mentor, or a carefully built career.
Stories kept finding me.
WORDS, IMAGES, SOUND

Different doors into the same room.
They appeared in notebooks, images, songs, unfinished sentences, and in the strange inner cinema that never really stopped running.
Over the years, I have worked with words, images, sound, and movement, often crossing the borders between them.
For me, they have always been different doors into the same room.
WHAT I WRITE ABOUt
I write about people who carry invisible histories.
About women who have survived more than they explain.
About silence, memory, identity, loss, desire, and transformation.
About the moment when someone realizes that the life they have been living no longer fits.
And about what waits beyond it.
FROM WRITING TO MUSIC
Some stories eventually asked for more than words.

After decades of writing, editing, teaching creative writing, designing books and working across different forms of media, music became another way to tell a story.
Shayana by Ava grew from that crossing point, where words, images,
memory and sound begin to move together.
This is not a separate world from writing.
It is the same instinct, in another form.
Some stories stay on the page.
Others become music.
Shayana by Ava grew from a lifelong need to tell stories through words, images,
and now through sound.
If something here speaks to you, begin with the music.
